Deborah has been practicing Mindfulness since 1991. Deb completed Professional Training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, N.Y. in 1995. After teaching MBSR for a year, she attended the University of Massachusetts Mindfulness Center for a Teacher Development Intensive Program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and his colleagues. This was a program for teachers of MBSR to further develop their skills of instruction. Since completion of the training in 1997, she has facilitated programs in the workplace, schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and many other community settings in both group and private settings.
Mindful Paths Stress Management Center was founded in April of 1997 by Deborah J. Lewis as a focus for promoting a mind/body preventative approach to healthy living. Recognizing the need for additional ways of coping with stress, pain and illness, Mindful Paths offers individual and group programs that incorporate new, broader ways of coping with stress that help in all aspects of our daily lives.
In 2001 Deb completed a 400 hr. Anusara Yoga® Teacher Training, and a Cardiac Care Yoga training for people with debilitating
diseases of the heart, cancer, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, etc., and is now a Nationally Certified Yoga Teacher.
More recently, Deb received a Masters Degree in Counseling from the Midwestern State University (2013). She is now a licensed professional counselor and offers private sessions in counseling to help those who are interested in taking charge of their mental and physical health and well being.
